Hello from Los Angeles!
With everything that’s been going on over here I wasn’t sure I’d make it to LA this year, but I’ve just landed and I’m happy to be here. I’m looking forward to spending time with some brilliant artists this week, I have several studio visits lined up and will share some highlights in my next Curator’s Notes. I’ll also be visiting lots of fairs and exhibitions whilst I’m here, on Friday you’ll find me hosting a panel at Frieze’s Deutsche Bank lounge titled ‘Togetherness in Art: Centering Queer Voices and Leaving No One Behind at Frieze LA’, which marks the launch of Outright International’s new report about LGBTQ inclusion in humanitarian settings.
But first I’m launching my book, Queer Art; from canvas to club and the spaces between, at a very special LA event tomorrow evening.
At a time when things feel particularly heavy for LGBTQ+ politically we’ll be coming together to celebrate the creativity, joy and resilience that’s unique to the queer community. I’ll be sitting down with actor, author, podcast host and queer icon Russell Tovey. Join us on Wednesday 19th February from 5pm at the CULTUREEDIT store in Hollywood.
The event is completely free but you do need to RSVP here.
Address: Culture Edit Store, 6757 Santa Monica Blvd, Los Angeles, California 90038
Event signing: 5-8 pm, in conversation: 6 pm
